Aha keeps itself up to date. It checks for new versions automatically, tells you when one is ready, and verifies every update before installing it. You don’t need to download a new installer each time.
Check for updates now
Click the Aha icon in the menu bar and choose Check for Updates…. The same button is in Settings › General under Updates. If a newer version is available, Aha offers to install it.
Automatic updates
Settings › General › Updates has two switches:
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Automatically check for updates | On | Looks for new versions in the background and lets you know when one is ready. |
| Automatically download updates | Off | Downloads new versions in the background so they’re ready to install. |
Both the update list and each update are cryptographically signed. Aha verifies them before installing, so only genuine releases get onto your Mac.
Updating to 0.3.2
Version 0.3.2 moves sign-in, updates and downloads to Aha’s new home at useaha.app. After it installs, you may need to sign in again: open the menu bar menu and choose Sign in to Aha.
Coming from version 0.3.0
In-app updates arrived in version 0.3.1. If you’re on 0.3.0, download the latest version once from the download page and drag it into Applications, replacing the old copy. After that, updates come through the app.
Not sure which version you have? Open Settings: the version number is at the bottom of the section list, and also in Settings › Diagnostics.
Your settings and permissions carry over
Updating keeps your settings, dictionary, rules, personal info and sign-in. Official releases are signed the same way every time, so macOS keeps your Accessibility permission too. If you ever see Allowed for an earlier build, see Troubleshooting.
Requirements
Aha needs macOS 14 Sonoma or later and runs natively on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
