What you need
- A Mac running macOS 14 Sonoma or later, with Apple silicon or an Intel processor.
- An Aha account for Field Assist and Smart Paste. It’s free, and you create it during setup with Google or an emailed code.
Realtime corrections work without an account and never leave your Mac.
Install Aha
- Download it Get the latest disk image from the download page.
- Move it to Applications Open the disk image and drag FlowKey into the Applications folder.
- Open it Launch FlowKey from Applications. It’s signed and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it like any other app. A welcome window appears.
Walk through setup
The welcome window is a short guided setup, one task per page. If you close it, it picks up where you left off next time.
- Create your account Choose Continue with Google, or enter your email and choose Email Me a Code, then type the 6-digit code. Signing in with a new address creates the account.
- Allow Accessibility Click Allow. System Settings opens on Privacy & Security › Accessibility. Switch on Aha. The welcome window notices the change and moves on by itself.
- Make a typo Type “teh” followed by a space in the practice field. A moment later it becomes “the”, with a soft blue pulse over the word.
- Ask the field Press ⌘. in the practice field to see the shimmer and a blue preview. ↩ keeps it, esc removes it. This page is scripted, so nothing is sent.
- You’re all set Leave Open at login on so Aha is ready whenever you are, and click Start Using Aha.
Accessibility is the only permission Aha needs. It lets Aha read and edit the text field you’re in. Aha never takes screenshots or records your screen.
Try it in a real app
Open TextEdit, Mail or Notes and start typing. Typos like “teh”, “the the” or “dont” are fixed as you finish each word.
Then type a request into an empty email, such as reply saying I can’t make Friday, and press ⌘.. The field shimmers while Aha thinks, then the result appears highlighted in blue.
Hi Maya, I’m sorry, but I can’t make Friday. Could we find another time next week?
Press ↩ to keep it, or esc to get your original text back.
Where Aha lives
Aha runs from the menu bar, with no Dock icon while you work. Click the menu bar icon to pause it, turn it off for the current app, revert a recent edit or open the main window with Open Aha. That window has your recent edits, Insights, Rules, Dictionary, Personal Info and Apps. Settings… in the same menu opens the settings.
You can rerun setup any time from Settings › General › Show Welcome Guide.
