Field Assist and Smart Paste run on your Aha account. Realtime corrections don’t need one: they work signed out and never leave your Mac. Aha is free during early access.
Sign in or create an account
You create your account during setup, or later in Settings › Account. Either way, there’s no password.
- Continue with Google signs you in with your Google account. Aha only gets your basic identity, such as your email address. It doesn’t ask for access to Gmail, Drive or Calendar.
- Email Me a Code sends a 6-digit code to your address. Type it in and you’re signed in. Signing in with a new address creates the account.
When you sign up you can tick Send me occasional product updates. It’s off unless you choose it.
Your session is kept in your Mac’s Keychain. To sign out, open Settings › Account and click Sign Out.
Your weekly allowance
Each account gets a weekly allowance that Field Assist and Smart Paste share. It resets every Monday.
Settings › Account shows how much of this week’s allowance you’ve used as a percentage, with the reset day next to it. For a longer history, click Open Dashboard under Usage history to see your requests by day and week on the web.
If you use up the allowance, Field Assist shows a short note saying when it resets. Corrections keep working as normal.
Requests pass through Aha’s service on their way to the AI model. For each request it records usage details such as the model, token counts, cost and app version, to run your account and the allowance. It doesn’t store the text you sent or got back. See the privacy notice for the full list.
Use your own OpenRouter key
If you already pay for OpenRouter, you can send requests straight there instead. They’re billed to your key and don’t count toward your weekly allowance.
- Switch it on In Settings › Account › Advanced, turn on Use my own OpenRouter key.
- Add the key Click Open Model Settings, paste your key and click Save. Verify checks it with OpenRouter.
Your key is stored in your Mac’s Keychain and sent only to OpenRouter. In this mode, Field Assist requests go directly from your Mac to OpenRouter without passing through Aha’s service.
Models and routing
Settings › Model lists the models Field Assist asks, in order. Aha falls back to the next one if a model is slow or unavailable, and measures how quickly each model responds on your Mac. You can:
- Add, remove and drag models to reorder them, or click Restore Defaults.
- Choose a routing Priority: Lowest latency (the default), Balanced, Lowest cost or Best quality.
- Allow or block provider fallbacks, and set the request timeout.
- See measured latency per model, and reset the measurements.
With an Aha account, models outside Aha’s supported list are skipped. With your own key you can use any model OpenRouter offers.
Delete your account
To delete your account and its usage records, use the contact address in the privacy notice. Settings, your dictionary and Insights live on your Mac and aren’t part of your account.
